Favorite subject your senior year: Mandarin 5 AP

Even in winter I’d felt just as warm.
Chasing friends and thoughts, while full of wonder
I dismissed and loved that this was my norm.
As a senior, I thought I was made of thunder.

But now I’m at home and out of touch.
Empty of hugs and the laughing rush,
From the friends that I love so much
And the one who makes me blush.

In school I’ve learned that family is more
Than sharing houses or blood.
It can be smiles, creativity that you adore,
And kindness that begins to bud.

So I stay home--and protect my friends,
My grandparents, healthcare workers, and community,
Knowing we are worth this means to an end;
That in fear, compassion is immunity.
